Itinerary Details

Day 1: Puerto Aroya - Santa Cruz Island

Flight to Santa Cruz Island and transfer to hotel in Puerto Aroya on the Island's southern shore, home to the world-famous Charles Darwin Station .

Day 2: North Seymour + Las Bachas Beach

Boattransfer to North Seymour to experience the courtship rituals of Magnificent Figatebirds . Other seabirds here inclue Swallow-tailed Gull, Lava Gull and Red-billed Tropicbird. Marine iguanas and sea lions are common on the shore. Afterwards to Las Bachas Beach - most important nesting sites for the Galapagos Island's sea turtles.

Day 3: Bartolomé + Sullivan Bay

Bartolome Island offers the emblematic sceneries of Islands where you can learn about the volcanic origins of the Islands. Explore the coastline for the unique Galapagos penguins. To Santiago Island to explore Sullivan Bay beach to experience the special pahoehoe lava flows. Blue-footed Boobies and Galapagos Shearwater are common.

Day 6+7: Zuro Loma + Antisana Reservearea

Visit Zuro Loma Reserve; reliable place for Sword-billed Hummingbird and Black-tailed Trainbearer and Chestnut-naped Antpitta. On day 7 enjoy the vast wilderness of the Antisano Volcano with paramos, highland lakes and view of the snow-covered Antisano Volcano. Look for Andean Condor, Giant Hummingbird, Anean Gull and more...

Day 8: Papallacta pass & Guango Lodge

Visit the Papallacta pass to try for the mythical Rufous-bellied seedsnipe and with chances for Tawny Antpitta and Rainbow-bearded Thronbill . In Guango Lodge look for the iconic Torrent Duck at the Papallacta River and bird the surroundings with Gray-breasted Mountain Toucan, Chesnut-breasted Coronet and many more...

Day 9+10: Rio Quijos

From a relaxed chair see and photograph a lot of birds at the feeders in Quijos Lodge; from Gorgeted Woodstar to Green-backed Hillstar, White-throated Quail-dove and the beautiful Inca Jay. Go bird the surrounding Sarindas areas to look for White-capped Tanager, Saffron-crowned Tanager and the rare Black-and-chestnut Eagle

Day 11+12+13: Amazon Basin

At an oxbow lake in the middle of the Ecuadorian Amazon, a biodiveristy hotspot you that should be on any's birders bucket list. Enjoy eye level views with the treetops at a canopy tower to scan for Masked and Paradise Tanager, White-throated Toucan and with some luck even Harpy Eagle. Visit clay lick for several parrot species...

Day 14+15: Quito

By boat and plane you will return to the city equipped with great memories and impressions of tons of beautiful birds. On day 15 transfer to airport.
