After traveling 800 km by van and plane, we reach northern Pantanal via the Transpantaneira road. Our base is Pousada Piuval, a lodge on a 7,000 ha ranch rich in wildlife. Enjoy day and night safaris with chances to see capybaras, Burrowing Owls, Spoonbills, and even jaguars, while exploring savannas, wetlands, and gallery forests.
Drive south along the Transpantaneira, stopping for abundant wildlife like Kingfishers, Marsh Deer, and possibly Brazilian Tapirs. By noon, we reach our riverside hotel for a two-night stay. We'll explore the São Lourenço River by private boat, seeking jaguars—very likely here—and other wildlife like Giant Otters, Jabirus, Rufescent tiger-herons, and Band-tailed Nighthawks. Great and very productive for photography !
Drive back all the way north along the Transpantaneira…en route we will have the opportunity to stop for wildlife. At night in Cuiaba we will celebrate and have a great dinner in a typical Brazilian Churasceria restaurant where waiters serve the barbecued meats from large skewers directly onto the seated diners' plates.
