Upon arrival in Costa Rica, you’ll spend your first night in a comfortable hotel surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens. The remote waterways of Tortuguero protect one of Costa Rica’s most important rainforest ecosystems. Accessible only by boat, this unique region is famous for its intricate network of canals, lush tropical vegetation, and remarkable wildlife diversity.
Your stay is based at a comfortable rainforest lodge surrounded by nature, providing an excellent base from which to explore the area’s waterways and wildlife-rich habitats.
Two guided boat excursions are included, offering a relaxed and enjoyable introduction to the rich biodiversity of Costa Rica’s Caribbean lowland rainforests. Gliding quietly through the canals provides excellent opportunities to observe monkeys, sloths, reptiles, butterflies, and tropical birds in their natural environment.

Sarapiquí is one of Costa Rica’s most rewarding rainforest destinations and an excellent place to experience the country’s extraordinary biodiversity. Your stay is based at Selva Verde Lodge, one of Costa Rica’s pioneering ecolodges, beautifully integrated into the surrounding rainforest and connected by trails, gardens, and hanging bridges.
The lodge grounds themselves offer excellent wildlife viewing opportunities, while the nearby La Selva Biological Station protects one of the largest remaining tracts of intact lowland rainforest in the country. Its extensive trail system provides easy access to pristine rainforest habitats rich in wildlife.
Included activities feature a guided visit to La Selva Biological Station and a nocturnal wildlife excursion. Exploring the rainforest after dark offers opportunities to discover frogs, reptiles, insects, and other fascinating creatures rarely encountered during the day.

Nestled between the rainforest and the Pacific Ocean, Hacienda Barú offers a unique opportunity to experience Costa Rica’s rich biodiversity in a tranquil natural setting. Guests stay in simple cabins surrounded by nature, just a short walk from an isolated tropical beach where the rainforest reaches almost to the shoreline.
The lodge protects an extensive private reserve with a network of trails that provide excellent wildlife viewing opportunities right from the property. A half-day guided excursion is included to explore these habitats in search of Brown-throated Three-toed Sloths, troops of White-throated Capuchin Monkeys, and a variety of colorful tropical birds, including the spectacular Fiery-billed Aracari.

Spend three nights at Caletas Lodge, a remote rainforest retreat accessible only by boat and beautifully located between the jungle and the Pacific Ocean. A guided excursion to the Sirena sector of Corcovado National Park is included. Widely regarded as Costa Rica’s premier wildlife destination, Sirena offers excellent opportunities to observe an incredible variety of wildlife, including the endangered Baird’s Tapir, Central American Squirrel Monkey, peccaries, coatis, and many bird species.
The adventure continues with a guided snorkeling trip to Caño Island Biological Reserve, one of Costa Rica’s finest snorkeling destinations, renowned for its crystal-clear waters and rich marine life.
Wildlife Highlights:
Nestled in the heart of the Talamanca Mountains, the beautiful valley of San Gerardo de Dota is one of Costa Rica’s premier cloud forest destinations. Surrounded by lush mountain forests and crossed by crystal-clear streams, this peaceful valley offers a completely different environment from the tropical lowlands visited earlier in the tour.
Guests stay at Hotel Savegre, beautifully located amid the cloud forest and renowned for its worldclass birding . The valley is the best place in Costa Rica to observe the magnificent Resplendent Quetzal, a species that can be found here year-round.
A half-day private guided excursion is included to search for quetzals and explore the enchanting cloud forest, home to a rich variety of birds, orchids, bromeliads, and much more .
Wildlife & Nature Highlights:
We return to the Central Valley for our final night at the charming Hotel Buena Vista, ideally located just 20 minutes from the airport. Surrounded by coffee plantations, the hotel enjoys beautiful views across the Central Valley and provides a relaxing setting to conclude our Costa Rican adventure.
On Day 18, a short transfer takes you to the airport for your onward flight home.
