La Ensenada Lodge ligt in het kleine dorpje Abangaritos in het noordwesten van Costa Rica. Alle kamers hebben een klein priv\u00e9terras met uitzicht op de prachtige omgeving en de Stille Oceaan. Er is een zwembad en een eenvoudig restaurant en bar met goede typisch Costa Ricaanse gerechten. La Ensenada Lodge maakt deel uit van een 350 ha groot gebied dat gewijd is aan vee, paarden en ook aan de productie van zout. Sinds 1977 is het uitgeroepen tot Nationaal Natuurreservaat en veel van het oorspronkelijke tropische droge bos en de mangroven zijn gerestaureerd en geconserveerd en ebschermd. Hotelgasten kunnen genieten van een uitgebreid netwerk van paden die toegang geven tot een grote verscheidenheid aan fantastische vogelgebieden. De stukken tropisch droog bos trekken de typische avifauna aan met soorten als de Long-tailed Manakin, Black-headed Trogon, Turquoise-browed Motmot, de Rufous-naped Wren en de Cinnamon Hummingbird. De nabijgelegen kustlijn van de Stille Oceaan trekt zeevogels aan zoals de Brown Pelican, Magnificent Fregatbird, de Laughing Gull en Royal Tern ; terwijl de nabijgelegen zoutpannen vol zitten met
