Facilities

All rooms in Hotel Buena Vista have been recently completely renovated. The hotel offers 11 deluxe standard rooms, 11 superior rooms with private balconies overlooking the Central Valley and the surrounding volcanoes, 3 spacious Junior Suites and 5 large villas, which are seperate units with a bedroom, living area and private balcony located in the nicely landscaped hotelgardens. All rooms in Hotel Buena Vista come with flat screen cable television, hair dryers and premium bath products. With the cool nights at the altitude of 1100 m asl air conditioning is not needed in the hotel. There is a good restaurant serving local and international dishes and a well-stocked bar. In the garden area the pool is located with some relaxing chairs around it and there is a small trail going through a coffee plantation. Free Wi-fi is available in common areas and in the rooms.

Birding and wildlife attractions

220 species of birds have been registered on the Hotel Buena Vista property according to E-bird.  A morning birdwalk in Hotel Buena Vista might produce up to 20 – 30 species, depending on what time of the year and the presence of northern migrants or not. Target bird species

  • Lesson’s Motmot: Lesson’s Motmot is abeautiful bird and  relatively common in the garden and surrounding coffee plantations.
  • White-crowned Parrot: These colorful parrots tend to move around in groups of about 8 – 12 individuals in the surrounding coffee plantations. They are mostly seen in flight, once they land in a green tree it is often hard to spot them due to their perfect camouflage
  • Chestnut-capped Warbler: is almost always around in the coffee plantations neighboring the hotel’s garden
  • Masked Tityra: attractive white bird with red mask that is often seen in one of the tall trees from the garden
